Transforming NHS Interoperability: Highlights from the Health AI Tech Show

The Toca team headed to Big Penny Social for the Health + AI Insiders Health AI Tech Show, setting up at Stand 2 right near the main stage. The event brought together healthcare leaders, digital innovators and NHS clinicians to explore how enterprise AI and modern integration platforms are solving the NHS’s most urgent operational bottlenecks.

Throughout the show, one core message resonated across every conversation: true digital transformation in healthcare requires a unified approach to apps, integration, and AI.

For many NHS Trusts, the biggest barrier to adopting AI isn’t a lack of interest: it’s legacy infrastructure. Patient data is frequently trapped across disconnected Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems, legacy databases and department-specific software.

Attempting to bolt advanced AI tools onto fragmented data structures creates friction, increases security risks and inflates costs.

To deliver genuine value, AI cannot exist as an isolated point solution. It must be paired with robust integration architecture that streamlines data flow across entire patient pathways.
